First week practical - SOP
It's the second day of the first week of practical. 3 months feel so far ahead with each day slugging about when you're not in school. In some parts, I am lucky to be given a pretty awesome mentor and my materials are technically a free-for-all base so long as it's exam-focused. In others, I might wish to have a more concrete framework to work with but that might just be my impatience showing. Process takes more than two days to go through.
As it is, might as well update on the mundane things.
I live in Shah Alam now for the next 3 months, in a renthouse with a classmate who is doing her practical at the same school. Basically, we'll be seeing each other's faces from morning till night and night till morning for the next 3 months. I assume we will grate on each other's nerves and sanity (whatever's left of it) until the practical duration ends.
I try to call home at least twice a week, considering I sort of reflected that I didn't call home for sometimes a month last semester. I wanted to fix that. Tips given from mom and sis often comes helpful when dealing with the teachers, and my mentor reminds me of mom a bit. That said, I often have fun when I'm in school.
SMK Seksyen 7 is an active school, and there are competitions all year round it seems. Prrogrammes and activities abound and whilst some may be uncomfortable to beheld, some brings me nostalgic and pleasant memories of my school experience.
Having the students rapidly warming up to me is also an unexpected surprise albeit a pleasant one. They are curious and, true to word, have a sponge-like mind that absorbs your words to them almost as if you can see it happening. It's remarkable.
Some of them remind me dearly of my little brother, and that in return helps me to warm up to them. Not in class, at least, and since it is still SOP week and we are not to teach any classes until next week, I consider it a get-to-know-the-surroundings lesson for myself.
Maybe it's because I've been excitedly expecting practical since the break or something, but I find the work fun. I can't wait for next week to begin.
